The Cedar Hollow difference

Handling that lowers the temperature

Our whole team trains in low-stress, fear-free handling techniques. It changes what a vet visit feels like — for them and for you.

  • Treats first, thermometer later — exams start on your pet’s terms
  • Cats get towel wraps and a quiet room — never scruffing
  • Floor or lap exams when that’s where your dog relaxes
  • Pre-visit calming medication when your pet needs it — ask us
  • If your pet panics, we pause or reschedule — we don’t force it

Low-stress handling is a practice-wide commitment, not a promise that every visit is stress-free — some pets need time, and we give it to them.

Getting started

Three steps, no paperwork pile

Step 01

Book online or call

Pick a time on the booking page or call us. Your intake form arrives by text — five minutes on your phone, done before you arrive.

Step 02

The sniff-and-settle visit

The first minutes of the appointment belong to your pet — exploring the room, taking treats, deciding we’re fine. Then the exam happens around them.

Step 03

A plan in writing

You leave with a care plan sorted by what’s urgent versus what can wait, with exact prices. Nothing happens without your OK.

Transparent pricing

Fees on the wall, and on the website

Surprise bills break trust. These are our standard exam and common-procedure fees — anything beyond them is estimated in writing before we start.

Client words

What the humans say

★★★★★

“My cat has fired three vets. Here they dimmed the lights, wrapped her in a towel like a burrito, and she purred through the whole exam. I didn’t know that was possible.”

Dana R.

· cat, new client · via Google

★★★★★

“The estimate for my dog’s dental was itemized down to the pain meds, and the final bill matched it. Dr. Nair called me herself when he woke up.”

Marcus L.

★★★★★

“Finding a vet who actually sees bearded dragons is hard. Dr. Whitfield knew more about my beardie’s setup than the forum that sold me on it.”

Quinn A.

★★★★★

“Called at 8 AM about vomiting, seen by 11, home with a plan by lunch. They told me plainly it wasn’t an emergency — and exactly what would make it one.”

Do you take pet insurance?

Pet insurance works by reimbursement: you pay at the visit, then your insurer pays you back per your policy. We make that easy — itemized invoices the same day and records sent to any insurer on request. CareCredit is also accepted if you’d rather pay monthly.

Which exotic animals do you see?

Rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, mice, hamsters, ferrets, parakeets and most companion birds, bearded dragons, geckos, and non-venomous snakes. We don’t see venomous species, primates, or livestock — call and we’ll point you to someone who does.

My pet is terrified of the vet. How do you handle that?

Tell us when you book. We’ll schedule a quieter slot, use a low-traffic room, and go at your pet’s pace — sometimes that means a “happy visit” first with treats and no procedures at all. For some pets, the doctor may recommend calming medication before the next visit.

What happens if my pet has an emergency at 2 AM?

We’re not a 24/7 hospital, and we’d rather be honest about that than let you drive here to a locked door. After hours, go straight to Ridgeline Veterinary Emergency Hospital at (828) 555-0199 — open around the clock. Our urgent care page lists the signs that shouldn’t wait.

Do you offer payment plans?

Payment is due at the time of service, and every procedure starts with a written estimate so there are no surprises. For larger treatment, CareCredit offers monthly plans with an application that takes about two minutes from your phone.

Are you taking new clients?

Yes — dogs, cats, and exotic companions. Book the $45 new-client exam online, and bring (or have us request) records from your previous vet so we’re not starting from zero.

Ready for a vet visit nobody has to brace for?

Book the $45 new-client exam — an unhurried look at your pet, a written plan, and honest prices. About a minute to schedule.
