New patients
Your first visit, minute by minute
Sixty minutes, one provider’s full attention, and answers you can repeat to your spouse without googling anything. Here’s exactly how it goes.
The walkthrough
What happens in the first 60 minutes
Minutes 0–15
Your story
You talk, we listen. When it started, what makes it worse, what you’ve already tried, and — most important — what you want back. Bike commute? Deadlifts? Picking up a grandkid? That becomes the goal on your chart.
Minutes 15–35
The exam
A movement screen plus orthopedic and neurological testing. We measure range of motion in degrees and strength side-to-side, and we screen for anything that needs a physician or imaging before hands-on care.
Minutes 35–50
First treatment
If the exam clears it — and it usually does — treatment starts today: hands-on care plus your first two or three exercises. You’ll know what treatment feels like before you commit to a plan.
Minutes 50–60
The plan, in writing
What we found, what we recommend, how many visits, and what it costs with your verified benefits. Take it home, sleep on it, or book visit two on the way out — zero pressure either way.
Before you come in
What to wear, what to bring
The exam involves moving — bending, squatting, maybe a short walk on the treadmill. Dress like you’re headed to a casual gym session and you’re set. Arrive five minutes early and we’ll start on time; we run on schedule as a point of pride.
Your intake forms arrive by text or email when you book. They take about five minutes on your phone — finishing them beforehand keeps your whole first hour for the actual visit.
The checklist
- Comfortable clothes you can move in — gym shorts or leggings beat jeans; we have a change room if you’re coming from work
- Photo ID + insurance card — or just text us photos of the card when you book and check-in takes seconds
- Imaging reports, if you have them — MRI or X-ray reports help; no imaging is fine too, most conditions don’t need it
- Your medication list — part of the safety screen, takes one minute
- Auto-accident cases: claim number and the insurer’s name — we handle the MedPay paperwork from there
Insurance + self-pay
Verified before you arrive. In writing.
Our verification promise: send your insurance card when you book, and before your first visit we confirm your chiropractic and PT benefits — deductible, copay, visit limits — and text you an estimate. If we can’t verify in time, we tell you the self-pay worst case up front so nothing surprises you.
Plans we work with
- UnitedHealthcare
- Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield
- Cigna + Aetna
- Medicare + most Medicare Advantage plans
- Auto injury — Colorado MedPay claims billed directly
- Workers’ compensation (with an open claim)
Out-of-network? We’ll still verify what your plan reimburses and give you a superbill to submit. HSA + FSA cards welcome.

First-visit questions
The things people ask before booking
Anything else on your mind, just call — the front desk has heard it all.
Call (970) 555-0142Will I get treated on the first visit?
Almost always, yes — the assessment includes your first round of hands-on care and starter exercises, as long as the exam doesn’t flag something that needs imaging or a physician first. You’ll leave having felt what treatment here is like.
How soon can I get in?
Most new patients are seen within the week, and we hold early-morning slots (from 7:00 AM) for people who need to be at work by 9. If you’re in acute pain, call — we triage same-day when we can.
What about the intake forms?
They arrive by text or email the moment you book and take about five minutes on your phone. Please complete them through that secure link rather than emailing health details to us — and if you’d rather do paper, come ten minutes early and we’ll have a clipboard ready.
Do I see the chiropractor or the physical therapist first?
We match your assessment to your case when you book — back and neck pain often starts with Dr. Ruiz, post-injury rehab with Marcus. They share one chart and confer weekly, so you land in the right hands either way.
What if you find something you can’t treat?
We tell you plainly and refer you to the right provider — primary care, orthopedics, imaging — usually with a call made before you leave. Roughly one in twenty new-patient exams ends in a referral instead of a care plan, and we consider those visits a success too.
