Terms of use

Last updated 1 July 2026

These terms cover your use of this website. Your membership itself is governed by the membership agreement you sign when you join — if the two ever disagree, the signed agreement wins.

This is not medical advice

Everything on this site is general fitness information. It is not medical advice, a diagnosis, or a treatment plan, and reading it does not make anyone here your clinician. Exercise carries a real risk of injury. If you have a medical condition, are pregnant, or are returning from injury or surgery, speak with your physician before you start — and tell your coach, so the programme can be written around it.

Schedules and prices

We keep the timetable and the prices on this site current, and the board on the home page is updated each morning. Even so, classes occasionally move, coaches occasionally swap, and spot counts can be a few hours behind reality. Nothing on this website is a binding offer; the class you are booked into and the price on your membership agreement are what count.

The free week

One free trial week per person, for people who have not trained at Halyard before. No card is required and no membership starts automatically at the end of it. We may decline a trial if the timetable is full or if we don't think we're the right gym for what you're after — and we'll say so plainly rather than sell you something that won't work.

Membership, in short

  • Month to month. No joining fee, no minimum term.
  • Thirty days' notice to cancel, by email or in person. No cancellation fee.
  • Up to two months a year of paused membership at no charge.
  • If we raise prices, existing members hold their rate for twelve months and get sixty days' notice.

The full detail lives in your membership agreement.

Behaviour in the gym

Look after the equipment, put it back, and treat everyone in the room the way you'd want your first day to go. We will end a membership without refund for harassment, threats, or intimidation of members or coaches. That has happened twice in nine years and we would rather it stayed rare.

Using this site

The text, photographs and design here belong to Halyard or are licensed to us. Read the site, print it, share the link — but don't republish the content as your own or scrape it wholesale. Don't try to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to the site.

Links out

Where we link to somebody else — a booking system, a physio, a supplier — we don't control what's on the other end and we're not responsible for it.

Liability

We provide this site as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of it. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maine, and the courts of Maine have jurisdiction over any dispute about them.

Template note

This is a sensible starting point, not legal advice. Fitness businesses carry real liability — have a lawyer in your state review these terms, your membership agreement and your waiver together, and make sure all three say the same thing about cancellation, pausing and injury.
