What things cost, before you sit down

Every price below is what you pay for a first appointment with a senior stylist. Longer or denser hair takes longer, so a few lines say “from” — and when that applies to you, we tell you the number at the consultation, not at the end.

Colour

Colour is priced by what it takes, not by a package. A gloss starts at $70, a root retouch at $105, half-head foils at $165, and balayage from $240. Corrections are charged hourly at $95 so you're never paying for a guess. Every new colour client gets a free fifteen-minute consultation and a strand test at least 48 hours before the appointment — no exceptions, including for weddings.

Three people, and you pick which one

There is no “next available stylist” here. You book a person, you keep that person, and if you want to move to a different chair you say so and nobody sulks.

Every photograph on this site was taken in this room, of clients who said yes to being photographed. That matters — a gallery of borrowed images tells you nothing about what walks out of a particular door.

Your visit

What actually happens

Before you arrive: Book online or call. If it's colour, we'll ask you in for a free fifteen-minute consultation first — and a strand test at least 48 hours ahead. That's not a sales step; it's how you avoid the appointment where the colour doesn't take and everyone pretends it's fine.
The consultation: Ten minutes at the mirror before a single clip goes in. Bring photographs — including ones you hate, they're more useful. Your stylist will tell you honestly whether your hair will do that, what it will cost, and how much work it is at home. If the answer is no, you'll hear no.
The appointment: One stylist, one client, start to finish. Nobody gets parked under a dryer while their stylist starts someone else. You get a drink, and a room quiet enough to talk or not talk.
Afterwards: You'll leave with a written note of exactly what was used — formula, developer, timing — so any stylist anywhere can pick it up. It's your hair; the recipe belongs to you.
If it's not right: Come back within fourteen days and we'll fix it at no charge. Not a re-do of a different idea — a correction of what we did. Say so early; we'd rather sort it than have you live with it.

Do I need a consultation before colour?

Yes, for anything beyond a gloss on hair we already know. It's free, takes fifteen minutes, and includes a strand test at least 48 hours ahead. Bleach on unknown hair is how salons produce the results nobody photographs. We'd rather spend a quarter of an hour than four hours fixing it.

Is your pricing genuinely fixed?

The cutting and barbering menu is fixed — the number you read is the number you pay. Colour is quoted at the consultation and written down before we start, because the honest answer depends on your hair's length, density and history. What never happens is a surprise at the desk.

Can I book with a specific stylist?

You always book a person, never a slot. If your stylist is away and you need something sooner, we'll tell you who else can do that particular thing well — and if nobody can, we'll say that too.

What's your cancellation policy?

Twenty-four hours' notice, no charge, no lecture. Inside 24 hours we ask for 50% of the service, because a three-chair studio can't refill a two-hour colour slot on the morning. Illness and emergencies are waived — just tell us.

Do you cut children's hair?

Dev does, mostly Saturday mornings when the studio is calmer. $32, thirty minutes, and no pressure — if they won't sit, we'll try again another day and not charge you for the attempt.

Where do I park?

Metered spaces along Whitaker, free after 5:00 pm and all day Sunday. The Whitaker Street garage is two blocks north and is the safer bet on a Saturday. We're a ground-floor unit with a step-free entrance.
